WIRED Next Generation 2018

WIRED Next Generation 2018

It was fantastic to have 10 of our pupils receive the opportunity to attend WIRED Next Generation ‘Girls in Tech’ event on Saturday. Taking place at London’s Tate Modern, the one-day festival focused on helping students develop skills in emerging digital trends. The girls partook in a series of workshops and talks encouraging them on how best to apply their own influence in today’s fast-paced digital world.

Co-op Academy North Manchester’s strong connection with the Digital Skills Network enabled this possibility for our students. With support from Ocean Outdoor UK and the City Council, the students had a fantastic day visiting London’s major tourist spots and witnessing talks from Epic Games developer, Sjoerd De Jong and female rights campaigner Amika George.

The day focussed on empowering young people on their ability to influence tomorrow’s society. Compelling discussions around Science, Technology, Business and Politics were had to inspire students on how to shape their own future.

It is great to see such meaningful experiences presented for our pupils.
