Letter from Mrs Smith: Academy Leadership Announcement
30th April 2020
Dear Staff, Parents/Carers and Pupils
As you will already be aware, we wrote to you last term to inform you that Mrs Smith will be leaving the academy to start a new role as Headteacher at Sale Grammar School, from September 2020. Within that communication we made it clear that we would communicate to you our next steps for the leadership of the academy, as soon as these had been decided upon.
We are delighted to announce that Ms Sharon Hands has been appointed to take over the leadership of Co-op Academy North Manchester, effective from 1st September 2020. Many of you will already know Ms Hands, as she is the current Senior Vice Principal of our academy, having worked within our senior team for six years. Ms Hands brings a wealth of experience to the role: not only does she have a deep knowledge and understanding of both the vision and values of our academy, but also knows our families, staff and the community of North Manchester, having worked within it for many years. Prior to joining our academy, Ms Hands had a variety of other roles, and has always remained a passionate Teacher of English, something that many of you will have already both seen and benefited from. Ms Hands is also a Governor at a local Primary school, demonstrating her deep commitment to our local community. She is also involved in research on Initial Teacher Education and has coached teachers across the country who are new to the profession. Her leadership expertise has also been recognised more widely, within her position of Specialist Leader in Education, enabling her to have had experience of both supporting and strengthening other schools. All these attributes make Ms Hands exceptionally well placed to continue to ensure that our academy vision is implemented, and that we remain committed to enabling everyone to go on to lead both happy and successful lives.
In addition to this news, we also wanted to inform you that the Co-op Academies Trust has recently appointed an Executive Principal for the Greater Manchester region. We are pleased to announce that this position has been secured by Mr Steve Brice, who many of you will know has been the longstanding Principal of Co-op Academy Manchester. Mr Brice will be working across the academies in Greater Manchester, and we are confident that you will want to join us in congratulating him on his new position.
We are confident that the academy remains in a very strong position going forwards and that it will continue to be an excellent place to learn and be a part of. Should you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with either one of us.
