We're closed to most students
The Government is asking parents to keep children at home whenever possible – schools remain open only for children who need to attend.

The music department is situated on the ground floor. There are two large music spaces, one equipped with computers to support composition and keyboard skills, and the other to support whole class teaching. There are individual practice rooms, a recording studio and equipment for a radio station.  Our commitment to music is demonstrated by our offer that all Year 7 pupils have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. A number of pupils achieved Grade 9s in the last GCSE examination series, demonstrating the excellent progress that our pupils make in music.

What does our curriculum include?

The curriculum covers a full range of skills including listening, performing and composing, both within the academy and outside. Opportunities to work with and to experience professional musicians’ work is provided with collaborations including working with The National Chamber Orchestra and opportunities to enable pupils to showcase their work at Manchester’s Band on the Wall.

The extra-curricular provision is extensive with ensembles, a choir, a radio club and many more clubs and experiences being offered. Pupils have the opportunity to perform in assemblies and in music concerts which take place during the academic year.
