School Librarian

  • Contract type - Permanent, 35 hours per week, term time + 5 days
  • Salary range - Grade 5, Points 13-19 (actual £19,398 - £21,845)

The role of school librarian is key within the Academy to ensure the Academy’s vision of excellence and success is achieved within the Library.  Through having the highest expectations, you will be able to continue to drive up standards in literacy and promote a smooth and efficient operation of the academy library as a Learning Resource Centre for independent learning for all of our pupils. 

The successful candidates will possess excellent leadership, management and communication skills and will have demonstrated an ability to work successfully with young people. They will hold the highest aspirations for Co-op North Manchester’s pupils. They will also be committed to and use strategies that will ensure that all pupils are given the very best opportunities to be successful in all areas of their lives.

We are looking for a school librarian with experience of working with young people to secure excellent outcomes and who are able to develop and sustain strong routines, inspiring pupils to engage with the school library. They will ensure all pupils engage strongly in extra-curricular activities and develop a range of strategies across all year groups to promote the library and a reading culture.

Shaping the Future

The school librarian will work with the Head of English and the whole school lead for literacy to create and deliver a shared vision for the development of the library, the creation of a whole school reading culture and wider reading across the curriculum.

  • Developing the strategic vision and direction for the school library, based on research and analysis of contextual need.
  • Ensuring that the school library reflects the academy’s vision and values and those of our Trust.
  • Playing an active role in raising the aspirations and ambitions of our pupils, their families and carers and the local community.
