Pupils take part in National Maths Challenge

Pupils from Year 9 and 10 have been taking part in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge run by UKMT.

The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT), aims to advance the education of young people in mathematics.

The challenge is a 60-minute test where pupils will work independently. They will be competing with over 100 other schools from across the UK.

Mr Dickinson, Maths Teacher at our Academy said: “Our pupils worked solidly for 60 minutes showing great resilience and determination to complete a very difficult assessment. The top 500 pupils in each year group qualify for the Olympiad.”

The test will be marked externally and the highest performers will be awarded either a bronze, silver or gold certificate.

Pupils taking part have shown amazing problem-solving skills and the test will challenge their current abilities.
