Pupils secure an exclusive role with Manchester United Football Club
Year 10 Pupil Adam and Year 11 Pupil Daniel have been appointed Manchester United, first-team Ball Assistants.
Both Pupils attend matches at Old Trafford and have the job of getting the ball back onto the pitch as quickly as possible.
Adam said: “It’s such a good opportunity, my mum is really proud of me. She gets to come to every game to support me and she’s now a Manchester United fan.”
Adam has also had other opportunities with the Manchester United Foundation. He has passed two additional leadership qualifications called ‘Lead the United Way’ and a ‘Young Leader Award’.
When we asked Daniel about his role, he said: “The experience I’m gaining is amazing. I have attended over 35 matches now and every time the atmosphere being stood at the side of the pitch next to the singing stand is unreal.
“I also meet all the players. The most famous players for me were Ronaldo and Messi.”
This is Daniel’s second year of being a MUFC ball assistant even though the role is usually for one season only. But due to his commitment, dedication and passion, he was appointed for a further year and is now coaching new ball assistants.
Mr Dearden, Hub Development Officer for Manchester United Foundation, said: “This is a unique opportunity for both Pupils to be part of a team that represents Manchester United on a match day. Both Daniel and Adam have been a credit to the school, their punctuality, professionalism and conduct have been excellent and both have fully justified their appointment as first team ball assistants.”
This is one of many opportunities our partnership with Manchester United Foundation offers our Pupils. They grow both personally and academically gaining skills for life through football.
