Pupils get active to learn more about University

GM Higher joined us at the Academy to introduce Pupils to higher education using the Star Student Board Game.

Pupils were asked questions about university and answered using mime, drawing or multiple choice.  The aim of the game was to give everyone an insight into higher education.

Year 9 pupil Mahekdeep said: “It’s a very interesting game and very informative about university. It teaches us new things that we’ve not learned about – It’s very intriguing and exciting.”

Miss Anderson, Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance Co-ordinator, said: “Star Student Board Game allows pupils to have an understanding of what university is like through active learning. The board game goes through finance, courses and the types of courses on offer at university. It is all about engagement and interest for higher education early on.”

As part of our offer at the Academy, we are committed to ensuring that our pupils have the highest aspirations and expectations of themselves. We give pupils the opportunity to explore different career options so that they can make informed choices about their future. We also explore the different routes available to them after high school.
