Pupils bring Festive Cheer to a local Care Home

Pupils from our Academy were invited to Acacia Lodge Care Home to Carol Sing at their Christmas Party.

DWP External Partnership team alongside Acacia Lodge Care Home brought together a range of Christmassy activities for the elderly. Our Pupils were privileged with an invite to carol sing.

Lynda Kelly, Well-being Activities Coordinator, said: “We wanted to do something different this year for the Christmas Party, something special.

“Carol singing did that. Residents were singing and moving. We all really loved it.”

This is just one of the many volunteering opportunities we take part in. This is part of our commitment to volunteer at least 175 hours per year group.

Julie Price, District Partnership Manager at DWP, said: “We have been up to lots of different activities today and soon as the Pupils started signing; you could see the joy in the room.

“The carol songs spark memories for us all. It’s lovely to see the residents singing along. They were absolutely fabulous.”

Sheila, a resident at the care home, added: “I really really loved it, I’m so impressed. It’s been wonderful.”

The afternoon ended with a massive round of applause for our Pupils.  We all really enjoyed getting involved. We hope to see you again next year.
