It’s Science & Engineering Week!
It’s been a busy few days in the Academy for National Science & Engineering Week.
Yesterday Year 11 ventured to the Co-op HQ at 1 Angel Square to attend a Revision Conference. It was a fantastic day spent with Science specialists who gave us top tips and resources to help us prepare and tackle exam questions!
We were even joined by the Trust’s Director, Frank Norris, who spoke to us about our day and found out what we’d learned: ‘I found the science conference really useful. I learnt about different revision techniques that works for me and strategies that I could use to answer the questions.’
Year 7 also got to visit Manchester University today for a Science Fair and Health Science lecture that involved meditation to help support their wellbeing.
We had a great day and gained lots of insight into the wide range of STEM related courses and jobs that are out there.
Back at school, some of our Year 10 Scientists learnt all about DNA and they even got to extract DNA from their own cheek cells. Year 7 also made 3D cell models that were amazing!
It’s wonderful to see our budding scientists so engaged!
