We're closed to most students
The Government is asking parents to keep children at home whenever possible – schools remain open only for children who need to attend.

Design Technology

The department teaches Textiles, Food Technology and Design Technology from Year 7, with these subjects being options at GCSE. Many pupils go on to study technology related courses at College and beyond. Our commitment to STEM subjects is demonstrated through the number of opportunities for extra curricular activities and that the subjects are taught by specialist teachers.

What does our curriculum include?

The curriculum is taught in dedicated teaching spaces with specialised equipment such as 3D printers and a lazer cutter, and dedicated technicians to support the learning experience that our pupils have. Both the practical and theory sides of the course are taught from Year 7 so that pupils understand the importance of both aspects of the course.

Extra-curricular clubs are available including: Cookery, STEM clubs, and  Textiles clubs. Pupils have the opportunity to speak to key personnel from related industries, including visits from those who work in Co-op Food. Pupils cook using fresh produce from our academy garden and are also invited to bring family members to cookery club and to take their work home to share with their family.
