Business, ICT and Computing
There are a number of dedicated ICT suites across the academy, and the department also utilises other technology to enhance learning, as appropriate. There are suites of Apple Macs, Desktop computers and pupils also have access to both laptops and iPads.
What does our curriculum include?
Computing and ICT are taught from Year 7, with Business being a GCSE option. Pupils build upon their computing and ICT skills and are taught a range of topics including coding. There are business based projects for pupils to engage in from Key Stage 3, with pupils leading the academy reward shop. Pupils have had success in national competitions such as ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’.
In addition to this, there is a strong extra-curricular offer with coding club and Business based clubs on offer. Opportunities to find out more about a career in digital are provided through our excellent links with businesses such as Co-op Digital. Pupils also have the opportunity to become ‘Digital Leaders’ and to promote e-safety across the school. We hold a national e-safety award which celebrates our commitment to the teaching of e-safety to our pupils.
