Pupil Leadership Team
The pupil leadership team are a recognised voice for all students in the academy across all years.
Our dedicated pupil Leadership team are an important group that represents the academy at a variety of levels including visiting 1 Angel Square, visiting other schools and welcoming external visitors to the academy.
The academy is fortunate to have a proactive Student Council, Anti-bullying Ambassadors, Eco Ambassadors, Sports Leaders to name but a few.
This year the Student Council have, worked tirelessly to improve the following areas of the academy:
- The Environment – the Year 7 Student Council have worked to inform students about the impact of plastic on society and how this could be improved within our academy.
- Healthy Breakfasts – the Year 10 Student Council have researched how they could help provide more healthier food options in the canteen as the number of extra-curricular clubs has increased before, during and after school they were keen to help ensure that students had nutritional food to prepare them for the school day and beyond.
- The Well-Being Garden – the Year 8 Student Council have developed ideas on a well-being garden to help promote our mental health awareness.
- Year 9 – worked impressively to raise funds for local charities including ‘The George House Trust’ raising awareness of World Aids Day across the academy. They invited members of the George House Trust in to speak to Yr 7 students in a Q and A session.
- Anti- Bullying – the Anti Bullying Ambassadors have carried out training in the academy and other schools across the northwest as well as presenting the new anti-bullying policy to parents. They helped write this along with a student charter.
All of these actions have had a positive impact on how the students feel valued and shows how the academy’s values of Trust, Respect and Commitment link to the work undertaken by the Student Council. It has also helped our students to embody the wider Co-op Values of Do what matters most, be yourself always, show you care and succeed together into academy life.
