Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium is funding we get from the government to help pupils who can find it more challenging to reach their potential. We receive extra funding for each pupil that meets any of the criteria below:

  • Every child currently registered as eligible for free school meals (FSM)
  • Every child who has been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
  • Looked-after children (LAC) defined in the Children Act 1989 as one who is in the care of, or provided with accommodation by, an English local authority
  • Children who have ceased to be looked after by a local authority in England and Wales because of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order or a residence order
  • Children who have a parent currently serving in the armed forces

Pupil Premium is paid directly to us, and we decide how it is used to meet our students needs. Ofsted inspections report on our use of the funding, and how it is helping our pupils.

We are expected to show that the spending of the pupil premium:

  • Increases the attainment of pupil premium pupils
  • Increases the progress made by pupil premium pupils
  • Reduces the gap in attainment between pupil premium pupils and their non-pupil premium peers

Pupil Premium Reports

Each year we release a report on what we will spend our Pupil Premium funding on, and one that evaluates how it was spent the year before.
