GCSE and BTEC Exams Timetable Summer 2024
The summer GCSE/BTEC exam season begins on Thursday 2nd May 2024 and this is the start of a very critical time in a pupils' education and future. This information and the linked pages below are important, so please read them carefully.
Written Exam Timetable
The timetable below is the full summer timetable for all subjects. Pupils will receive a personalised copy of their timetable shortly after the February half-term, along with another copy of our exam’s handbook and JCQ documentation they must read and understand.
It is strongly advised that the timetable is displayed in a prominent place and so that parents/carers and pupils can familiarise themselves with the dates and times of the exams.
Morning exams start at 9:00am and afternoon exams start at 1:00pm, unless otherwise informed. We ask that parents and carers ensure that pupils arrive at school on time and are ready for the exams. Late attendance to an exam may result in disqualification.
Pupils must be present for all exams. We are not able to reschedule any exams as these are set nationally by the exam boards.
If, during the examination period, they are unable to attend any of the exam session(s), please let the academy know immediately with the reason. If non-attendance is due to illness, then medical evidence is required. Only with sufficient medical evidence will the exam board consider special provision when awarding a grade.
Some pupils will also complete a component of their course before the dates of the written exams mentioned above. This will depend on the qualification and if the pupil studies a particular course, e.g Art & Design, Hospitality and Catering and language speaking exams. The dates for these unit exams will be shared as soon as possible.
Exam Contingency Days
A contingency date is a day specifically set aside, should sustained national or local disruption arise during the
2024 examination series. If disruption happens, the GCSE and/or BTEC examinations would be taken either for the first time or again on that day. The contingency dates for this year are timetabled for the afternoons of the 6th and 13th June as well as the day of 26th June 2024. Pupils must be available up to and including this date.
