Co-op Academy North Manchester Way launched with Year 7, emphasising the Power of Collaboration

On Friday, December 1st, the Co-op Academy North Manchester witnessed a vibrant launch, marking the commencement of an exciting educational journey for Year 7 pupils. The theme for the day, "working together," echoed throughout the event, emphasising the academy's commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

The Co-op Academy North Manchester Way helps pupils to explore our Co-op Ways of Being - ‘Succeed Together’, ‘Do What Matters Most’, ‘Be Yourself Always’ and ‘Show You Care’ and how they are intertwined in all aspects of life both inside and outside of the classroom.

Pupils attended an assembly that was delivered by a  special guest speaker from the George House Trust, adding a touch of inspiration and awareness to the event. The speaker shared valuable insights, fostering a sense of social responsibility and community engagement amongst the pupils. The emphasis on inclusivity and understanding echoed the academy's broader commitment to creating socially conscious, compassionate individuals.

The morning unfolded with enthusiasm, optimism, and a strong sense of community spirit as Year 7 pupils engaged in a variety of activities within their form groups. Embodying the theme of 'working together,' the pupils participated in a range of activities designed to promote teamwork and camaraderie.

In their form groups pupils took part in the Daily Mile, promoting physical activity and well-being. This inter-form competition to complete the most laps was exciting and reinforced the idea that every step taken together contributes to a shared journey of growth and learning.

Pupils also embarked on a scavenger hunt, encouraging collaboration and problem-solving skills. The excitement continued with an online session delivered by Healthy Schools, emphasising the importance of health and well-being in the school community.

In the school library, pupils immersed themselves in book reviews, showcasing not only their literacy skills but also their ability to share insights and opinions with one another. This collaborative approach to reading reinforces the academy's commitment to nurturing a love for learning among its pupils.

Mrs Fiddler, Vice Principal said  "The Co-op Academy North Manchester Way is about more than just education; it's about building a community that works together towards a common goal and underpins our ‘Co-op Ways of Being’. Today's activities have set the tone for the collaborative spirit we aim to nurture within our academy."

The launch of the Co-op Academy North Manchester Way on December 1st has not only marked the beginning of a new chapter for Year 7 pupils but has also underscored the academy's dedication to instilling our values of respect, commitment and trust in our pupils. As the academic year progresses, the academy looks forward to nurturing these principles and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all.
