Unforgettable Week at Jamie's Farm for Year 10 Girls
Twelve Year 10 girls recently had the unique opportunity to spend a week at Jamie’s Farm, a working farm in Monmouthshire. Immersing themselves in the daily rhythms of farm life, the students embraced a range of practical tasks such as fence building, mucking out, feeding animals, chopping wood, and picking fresh vegetables. They divided into groups to manage the farm duties while others prepared meals and snacks, honing their kitchen skills as they cooked breakfast and dinner for a group of 20 people.
The week was not just about hard work; it also encouraged personal growth. Daily check-in sessions gave the girls a chance to discuss their feelings and work on building confidence and communication skills. These reflective moments were balanced with serene countryside walks, offering time to appreciate the beauty of their surroundings.
Led by Ms. Tomkow, and supported by Ms. Morrison and Ms. Jewitt, the trip left the girls with new practical skills, enhanced self-confidence, and invaluable teamwork experience, making it an empowering and unforgettable week.
