Book Buzz Reading Program Sparks Passion for Reading Amongst Year 7 Pupils
In a bid to foster a love for reading amongst young minds, the Book Trust's flagship program, Book Buzz, has successfully sparked enthusiasm amongst Year 7 pupils. This October, they were given the exciting opportunity to select a book from a carefully curated list of 16 captivating titles, with the chosen book becoming their very own to take home and cherish.
Individual choices speak volumes:
Treasure expressed the challenge of choosing from the array of options but eagerly settled on "Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun." "I am so looking forward to reading it!" she exclaimed.
Teniola faced a similar dilemma but felt a strong connection with her choice, "Rise of the School for Good and Evil." She stated, "When I picked it, I felt it was REALLY for me."
Zahra, drawn by the vivid descriptions provided by the author, eagerly selected "Rise of the School for Good and Evil" and is anticipating an interesting read.
Eghosa, captivated by the allure of "Dread Wood," found it hard to pick just one book from the selection.
Naima is intrigued by the mystery within "Dread Wood," where animals are disappearing, making her choice an interesting one.
Mrs Orchard, Teacher of English added:
This is such a brilliant scheme to further help us to foster a love of reading in all of our pupils. The book choice is fabulous, this year! Our pupils have been very excited about receiving the books and are happily reading these books in English lessons and looking forward to taking them home.
Beyond the individual book selections, Book Buzz is working to instil a culture of reading for pleasure amongst pupils. By offering a diverse range of titles and organising communal activities, the program aspires to create an environment where the joy of reading becomes a shared experience.
As the academic year progresses, Book Buzz will continue to inspire our pupils to become avid readers who eagerly anticipate the next chapter in their literary journey.
