Co-op Academy North Manchester’s Robotics Team ‘InCTRL’ Clinches First Place for Think Award

The Robotics Team 'InCTRL' from Co-op Academy North Manchester celebrated a remarkable triumph by securing the prestigious Think Award during the FirstTech Challenge, held on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024.

Their victory, achieved through ingenious solutions to design and build challenges with their robot, signifies a significant milestone for the team. Especially with the redesign, building and subsequent re-coding of the Robot’s arm to meet the strictly enforced regulations of the competition. Renowned for its stringent standards and intense competition, the event witnessed InCTRL's exceptional demonstration of innovation and problem-solving skills. Their meticulously crafted and programmed robot impressed judges and spectators alike with its performance.

 The Think Award recognises teams excelling in engineering excellence and creativity. InCTRL's ability to navigate complex challenges with ingenuity undoubtedly distinguished them from their peers. Their unwavering dedication to pushing boundaries and exploring new avenues in robotics was evident throughout the competition.

This achievement is a testament to the collective effort and perseverance of every team member. Together, we've not only won an award but created lasting memories and friendships, and I know that next year we're going to do even better!"

Michael the Team manager said:

"Being in this competition was an experience like no other! We've achieved so much, both individually and as a team. The fact that this is our first year, and we still managed to win an award, truly shows how great we were. 

Michalina, Lead Programmer added:

InCTRL's triumph at the regional level not only showcases their exceptional talent but also underscores their commitment to advancing the frontier of robotics innovation. As they continue their journey, they inspire aspiring roboticists and aim for even greater achievements, leaving an indelible mark on the field of robotics.  

InCTRL are planning multiple bake sales to raise funds for the team and are also planning on running STEM enrichment workshops with some local primary schools during the summer terms. 

We are really excited for the 2024/2025 season and are looking forward to the new challenges it will bring.
